This 1939 editorial cartoon could be interpreted in a number of ways.
In Europe, War is apparently brandishing a whip with a list (?). In the U.S., Humanity is beckoning people to sign up (?) for a Red Cross Drive. That said… Humanity has turned her back on Europe.
